On Jan 30, 1925, around 10 am, cave explorer William Floyd Collins, better known as Floyd Collins, became trapped by a falling rock while exploring Sand Cave near Cave City, Ky. He was looking for undiscovered caverns and a new entrance to Mammoth Cave.

Is John’s body still in the cave?
I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you. I know that the government officials decided that recovering John’s body from the cave was too dangerous, but I really hope that they find a way to do it. I can’t imagine how you must feel not having a body to bury. I hope that you find some closure soon.
The death of John Edward Jones in 2009 was a tragic event. Jones was 26 years old and became trapped upside down in a narrow fissure from which he could not be rescued. The Nutty Putty Cave has been closed since then, as Jones’ body could not be removed. The site is now considered a grave.
