1. What inspired you to start the Rollettes?
I was inspired to start the Rollettes after watching a documentary about a similar all-female wheelchair dance team in the Netherlands called the Dancers without Limits. I was moved by their story and inspired to create something similar in the United States. I also saw a lack of opportunities for women with disabilities to participate in sports and fitness activities, so I wanted to create a team that would be inclusive and empowering.
2. What is your mission with the Rollettes?
Our mission is to inspire women with disabilities to live boundlessly through the power of adaptive sports and fitness. We want to show the world that women with disabilities can be strong, confident, and stylish while leading active and healthy lifestyles.
3. What has been the biggest challenge with starting the Rollettes?
The biggest challenge has been fundraising. We are a non-profit organization and rely heavily on donations and sponsorships to keep our team running. We have been fortunate to have the support of some amazing companies and individuals, but it is always a challenge to find steady funding.
