King Farquaad is the ruler of the fictional land of Duloc in the Shrek film series. He is voiced by John Lithgow in the films. In the first film, Farquaad attempts to have all fairytale creatures banished from his kingdom for fear that they may threaten his power. This led to his antagonism towardsShrek, who was resented by Farquaad for being taller than him.

Is Farquaad a half dwarf?
Lord Farquaad is the only known half-dwarf, being born to a human mother (Pea) and a dwarf father (Grumpy). He was raised in a human village and never knew his father. When he was eighteen, he set out to find his father and learn more about his dwarf heritage. He eventually found him living in a cave with a group of other dwarves. He also learned that his father was the king of the dwarves and that he had been exiled from his kingdom. Lord Farquaad then decided to take his father’s place as king.

The 7 clans of dwarves were: Longbeards, Durin’s Folk, Firebeards and Broadbeams, Ironfists and Stiffbeards, Blacklocks and Stonefoots. They all originated from different parts of Middle Earth, with the Longbeards being from Gundabad, the Firebeards from the Blue Mountains, and the Ironfists and Stiffbeards from the East. The Blacklocks and Stonefoots also originated from the East, but it is unknown exactly where they came from. All of these clans eventually came together and settled in the area around the Lonely Mountain, where they lived for many centuries.
