Yet, that is where I find myself with Netflix’s Ozark. The series, which wrapped up its third season this week, is a wonderfully twisty and thrilling ride that also managed to be deeply frustrating and, ultimately, disappointing.
Ozark is the story of the Byrde family, who are forced to relocate from their Chicago suburb to the Missouri Ozarks after Marty (Jason Bateman), the family’s patriarch, gets caught up in a money laundering scheme. The show is a crime drama, and it is undeniably well-done in that respect. The writing is sharp, the acting is uniformly excellent, and the plot is always moving forward.
