He attended Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina and went on to Duke University for his undergraduate degree. After graduating from Duke with a Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine, he went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to earn his medical degree. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy and acting.
