The Christopher Dorner shootings and manhunt began on February 3, 2013, when former Los Angeles Police Department officer Christopher Dorner fatally shot Monica Quan and her fiancé, Keith Lawrence, in Irvine, California. Dorner then opened fire on two LAPD officers in Corona, California, killing one and critically wounding the other.
Police throughout Southern California launched a massive manhunt for Dorner, which culminated in a violent stand-off and shootout in the San Bernardino Mountains on February 12, 2013. During the gun battle, Dorner fatally shot a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy and seriously wounded another. Dorner’s body was later found inside the charred remains of a cabin where he had barricaded himself.
