We don’t know much about Mike yet, but the fanon has already taken him and run with him. He’s become a sort of Sexyman archetype, which is interesting given that we don’t know much about him yet. I’m excited to see how he develops in Chapter 3 and beyond.

1997 was the year that Lightner downloaded Spamton onto the library’s computer. This led to a bunch of spam emails being sent out that contained computer viruses. These viruses were personified as the Virovirokun, which is why they also reference 1997.
He’s talking like this to avoid getting interrupted by bracket text. These instructions are important enough for him to take that precaution. Which means he KNOWS he’s being censored/overwritten with bracket text, and that it’s not in his control.
